Result 1: A multi -hazard anticipatory action model that strongly embeds economic shocks as a key driver of humanitarian need. The main output of this project will be the integration of economic shocks in a multi -hazard anticipatory action model. The multi -hazard anticipatory action model will build on existing early warning systems and models for climate -induced shocks in Niger, but it will add an additional layer for economic shocks which will strengthen its relevance in contexts of economic instability. This requires further unpacking of ‘economic shocks' as a driver of humanitarian need in Niger. The action will draw on the experience, results and lessons learned from Oxfam and Niger Chambers of Agriculture Network (RECA), as well as from the interventions of the Ministry of Population, Social Action, and National Solidarity on disaster risk reduction and humanitarian responses. This project will consider and complement the experiences related to economic shocks, climate change and indigenous approaches to resilience of communities to significantly reduce vulnerability and poverty and mitigate the impact of crises. - Result 1.1 Relevant indicators and thresholds for economic shocks are identified. - Result 1.2 Indicators and thresholds for economic shocks are integrated in existing (climate -focused) Anticipatory Action (AA) frameworks. - Result 1.3 Appropriate anticipatory actions are mapped and identified. - Result 1.4 At -risk households can receive pre -emptive cash.
