The overall objective is to strengthen the protection mechanisms of female caminantes and their households passing through Colombia. The specific objectives are: - To strengthen the capacities of female caminantes and their households in order to reduce the risk factors associated with the crisis. - To provide effective transportation and travel services to female caminantes and their households to complement the protection actions being implemented. The project activities will include: - Identifying the risks facing women in the context of the crisis caused by the mixed flow of migrants. - Guiding people towards access to migrant population rights, when passing through Colombia. - Building a plan of action with each participant. - Purchasing transportation vouchers for female caminantes and their households. - Provision of cash transfers once the families have vouchers for their destination, for the needs that may arise during the journey. The persons the project aims to support are new caminantes who cross the border between December 2018 and June 2019. Criteria will be defined based on categories to identify the most vulnerable women, i.e. those with a low food consumption score, those with children under five and/or pregnant or breastfeeding women. Moreover, other vulnerable beneficiaries will be targeted: men, youth and children at risk of being enrolled in armed groups, population with disabilities and elderly men and women. Cases that meet these criteria will be prioritised. The criteria will be assessed at the points already identified by Mujer y Futuro, which are located along one of the routes most used by migrants, running from Cúcuta (Norte de Santander) to Bucaramanga (Santander). They recognized the importance of organizing themselves for greater impact, of continuing their training process and of continuing to raise awareness about the issues that impede young women's full participation in society, such as ethnic discrimination, violence against women and in particular sexual violence . The second phase of the ‘Young Women Peace builders' project therefore seeks to take advantage of the favourable political processes in place in Colombia at the moment and build upon the gains made during its first phase in 2016. It proposes to focus on continuing to build on the linkages formed among the young women in the previous project, increase their advocacy skills and capacities, to support them to change mindsets amongst local actors and to move forward in the implementation of the peace building agenda elaborated by them during Phase I.
