In response to the devastating March 2019 floods which affected 14 provinces in Afghanistan, Oxfam in Afghanistan is proposing to provide life -saving humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable, flood affected households in Herat Province, based on the needs and focusing on two districts  Zendajan and Goryan, through access to food, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) systems, safe and dignified shelter, using a cash based approach. Multi -purpose cash (MPC) interventions will be used to enable families to buy food, Non Food Items (NFIs), repair their shelter or to rent a shelter with adequate latrines, water in safe distance and other basic household emergency needs. Currently ACBAR has 100 members including OXFAM GB. This project seeks to build this network and help advocate with government. The programme also aims to advocate to national goverment, international donor community and humanitarian community in Afghanistan to response approparitely in scale and fund response. Afghanistan sustainable cashmere project</narrative></title><description type="1"><narrative>The Burberry Foundation and the Oxfam are both committed to empowering and supporting goat farming and cashmere producing communities in Afghanistan, focusing on Herat and Balkh provinces. The programme will promote community resilience, alleviate poverty, and create better links between producers and the market in order to further social and economic development. The programme has a multi -tiered approach and through its interventions, will increase the value obtained for cashmere producing men and women and improve their livelihoods. Through the grant given by the Burberry Foundation to Oxfam, together with the grant given by the Burberry Foundation to PUR Project, the programme seeks to positively impact the lives of over 300,000 people over 5 years in Afghanistan.
